Set on the slopes of the Andes at 1,500 metres above sea level, this small project extends a remote forest cabin originally built as a weekend retreat — but now used as a full-time home. Harsh winters and the demands of daily life called for better comfort, warmth, and privacy. The first step was designing a new ensuite that could later become part of a broader upgrade to the cabin. The addition improves thermal performance, frames mountain views, and creates a more private, functional living space. Built quickly with local hands and materials, the design is intentionally simple — shaped by both the climate and the short window before snow cut off access to the site.
