A compact off-grid mountain retreat built from local materials
A compact off-grid mountain retreat built from local materials

Designed as a 70 m² cabin at the base of the Andes, the project offers a warm, practical refuge for mountain visitors. The design works entirely with locally available materials, adjusting dimensions to minimise waste, cost, and labour. Quick assembly and robust detailing ensure it will withstand diverse and intensive use over time while maintaining its condition.

Guided by passive design principles, the off-grid cabin provides a cosy, enduring space that connects directly to its dramatic surroundings. Currently in design, the project balances simplicity, resilience, and comfort in a remote setting.
