TRENTHAM ARTIST RESIDENCE

A serene art precinct weaving historic structures, recycled materials, and natural landscapes into a creative countryside retreat. Set on a rural property with existing sheds, the masterplan reimagines the site’s history and incorporates recycled materials to celebrate rural living, the natural environment, and creativity. Visitors enter through an orchard and overlook a large water body, moving between three key volumes: a restored timber structure transformed into an artist’s residence or atelier, a new communal event space designed for gatherings and flexible use, and a dormitory wing with six ensuite rooms for extended stays. Passive design strategies enhance comfort and livability throughout, while the restrained, timeless aesthetic invites outdoor living and quiet observation of the natural surroundings. Currently on hold, the project is envisioned as a welcoming hub for art, play, and reflection in the countryside.
